Janam Kundali: A Map of Heaven

In India, there has been a common tradition of drawing up Janam Kundali soon after the birth of a child in the family. A practice done as a part of Vedic astrology and Hindu religion, drawing up of Janam Kundali is considered to be as important as allotting a name to a child. In fact, the name of the child is allotted only after drawing up a Janam Kundli. Janam Kundali is a graphical representation of the positioning of planets at the time and on the date of the birth of a child। Janam Kundali is also called as the sum total of all astrology related to an individual. This is so because any able astrologer can draw up an entire picture of the life of an individual, only by seeing рдеे Janam Kundali or kundli of that person. Drawing up a Janam Kundali is an act of expertise, and only selected learners of this art and astrologers hold the rule for drawing up Janam Kundali.

Janam Kundali, also called as a map of heaven at the time of the birth of a child, involves drawing up a chart which graphically represents the positioning of planets in different houses as at the time of the birth of a child. This graphical representation done in a Janam Kundali is used for different purposes at different points of time in life. Also, only certain people like priests and astrologers hold knowledge of reading Janam Kundali, and conveying the information as depicted through it. A good astrologer can also draw the possible occurrence of certain future events in a person’s life by just seeing a Janam Kundali, and thus can make accurate future predictions.
